This guide will show you how to create, edit, and manage email accounts using cPanel. These steps apply to most cPanel-based hosting accounts.


Logging in to cPanel

  1. Go to your cPanel login URL (usually one of the following):
    • https://cpanel.yourdomain.co.nz/
    • Or the login link provided
  2. Enter your cPanel username and password
  3. Click Log in

Accessing Email Accounts

  1. Once logged into cPanel, scroll to the Email section
  2. Click Email Accounts

You’ll now see a list of all email addresses created for your domain.


Creating a New Email Account

  1. Click Create
  2. Enter:
    • Username (the part before @yourdomain.co.nz)
    • Domain (select the correct domain if you have more than one)
  3. Set a secure password (or use the password generator)
  4. Set the Mailbox Quota
    • “Unlimited” is fine for most users unless advised otherwise – it will still be governed by your overall account quota
  5. Click Create

The new email address will now appear in your email accounts list.


Changing an Email Password

  1. In Email Accounts, locate the email address
  2. Click Manage
  3. Enter a new password (or generate one)
  4. Click Update Email Settings

⚠️ You’ll need to update this password on all devices and email apps that use this email address.


Checking Email via Webmail

  1. In Email Accounts, click Check Email next to the address
  2. Choose a webmail option (Roundcube is recommended)
  3. Click Open
  4. You can also access your webmail by going to https://webmail.yourdomain.co.nz

You can now send and receive emails directly in your browser.


Configuring Email on Devices (Outlook, Apple Mail, Phones)

  1. Click Connect Devices next to the email account
  2. Select your device or email app
  3. Follow the setup instructions provided

cPanel automatically shows the correct IMAP/SMTP settings for your account.


Increasing or Changing Mailbox Storage

  1. Click Manage next to the email account
  2. Adjust the Storage Space (quota)
  3. Click Update Email Settings

Deleting an Email Account

⚠️ Warning: Deleting an email account permanently removes all emails.

  1. In Email Accounts, click Manage
  2. Click Delete Email Account
  3. Confirm the deletion

Common Tips & Troubleshooting

  • Can’t send or receive emails?
    • Double-check the password in your email app
    • Ensure the mailbox isn’t full
  • Emails going to spam?
    • Ask your domain provider or IT company to check SPF, DKIM, and DMARC records
  • Need forwarding or autoresponders?
    • These are also found in the Email section of cPanel
